Diverse People Practices

Fred Barnes  /  Facility Vice President-Tulsa Fulfillment Center, Macy’s

Macy’s believes that different perspectives are important to our company, and we benefit greatly from the individual strengths of each associate. We support this belief in our recruiting, hiring, developing and promoting opportunities.
With stores and fulfillment centers located in the most diver
se markets in the nation, it’s essential to have a strategic plan for diversity and inclusion: to serve and connect with diverse customers; create a diverse workforce; foster an inclusive work environment where different perspectives are valued; partner to share our time, talent and resources with our communities;
communicate values; and finally, grow sales and profit by capturing the buying power of a diverse market.

After becoming a Macy’s associate, the diversity message continues through annual workshops, seminars and computer-based awareness training. Our Tulsa/Owasso Leadership team provides a solid platform for ensuring we create an inclusive and supportive work environment to attract and retain top talent. The fulfillment center continually seeks ways to align associates with very diverse skill sets and experiences to the needs of the facility in order to get the most out of the team.

While we all have differences, we believe that both our differences and similarities help us to galvanize around a common vision. I personally am extremely proud to be a part of such a great organization that values and embraces our diversity as a strategic advantage.
